MCC members who have signed up for Great Decisions 2015 can hear MCC member Bill Davnie discuss “The Revenge of Geography.”  In 1991, the United States saw itself as the clear victor of the Cold War, standing astride the world and ready to rule it for the common good for decades, if not even generations, to come.  It hasn’t worked out quite that way. The world has proved more recalcitrant that we thought, and life more complicated.  Our claim that spheres of influence no longer matter has been proven wrong in Afghanistan, Iraq, Georgia, Ukraine -- and elsewhere.  Why did we think we could rule, and what do we need to learn for a more effective foreign policy?  This event is for members who have signed up for Great Decisions 2015.
