About this event

Discover the treasures hidden within your local library - from turning the pages of rare books with your own hands (yes, really!) to exploring the Bindery, where skilled staff use tools both old and new to repair and preserve books. You may even find yourself wishing you were a teenager again after stepping into the library’s inspiring maker space designed just for young creators. This behind-the-scenes tour reveals why Minneapolis Central Library is considered the crown jewel of the 41-library Hennepin County Library system.

Following our behind-the-scenes tour, we’ll sit down with Library Director Scott Duimstra for a candid conversation about the impact of Operation Metro Surge. Learn how Hennepin County Library’s community-responsive approach enabled librarians to adapt during a challenging period and continues to help the library serve and support some of our community’s most vulnerable neighbors. Scott will be able to answer any of your questions.

We will meet by the Minerva sculpture in the lobby of the building.

Refreshments will be served.

Interested in carpooling? Click on the registrant list and find a member in your building or near you that you can connect with and ask to share a ride. Or, feel free to contact the MCC office for a suggestion.
