About this event
What’s it like to create a new work of theater from the ground up? Join us for a casual and engaging conversation with Tyler Michaels King, Artistic Director of Trademark Theater, along with two of Trademark’s newly commissioned theater makers: Max Wojtanowicz (Guthrie Theater, Theater Latté Da) and Emma Lai (Children's Theatre Company, Theater Mu). Together, they’ll share what inspires their creative process as they prepare for Trademark’s In the Works Showcase. Hear how ideas evolve from rough concepts into live performance, what happens when creative experiments fall flat, and why the artistic journey can be every bit as meaningful as the finished production.
Following the conversation, we invite you to attend Trademark Theater’s In the Works Showcase public performance on June 8. This special event offers audiences a chance to experience 20-minute excerpts from new plays, including scenes, songs and visuals generated by Trademark's most recent class of commissioned artists! Attendees will see firsthand how original theater is developed, shaped, and refined before reaching the stage. It’s a unique opportunity to support local artists and witness creativity unfolding in real time. The presentation will conclude with a post-event meet-and-greet with the artists!
Trademark Theater's public performance of the In The Works Showcase will be held at Playwright's Center on June 8th. Tickets can be purchased on Trademark's Website at https://www.trademarktheater.org/showcase.
