About this event
Owámniyomni Okhódayapi is transforming Minneapolis’ most iconic riverfront location - St. Anthony Falls - from a desecrated industrial site into a living monument that says, “This is Dakota land.” The Owámniyomni project will restore native plantings, uplift Dakota land management and cultural practices and rebuild connections to the water. This groundbreaking land reclamation project implements the vision of the four Dakota Nations in Mnísota at no cost to the Tribes.
Join us as Amanda Wigen, communications director for Owámniyomni Okhódayapi, shares the story behind this transformative project and explores what it means to view the land not as a resource to be used, but as a relative to be respected and cared for. Following the presentation, we’ll tour Owámniyomni Okhódayapi's new space and then head outside for a walk to view the site itself.
