About this event
Global challenges like climate change, economic instability, and international conflict require cooperation across nations. Institutions such as the United Nations, World Trade Organization, and International Monetary Fund were created to support that cooperation—but today they face growing pressure. Rising geopolitical tensions, shifting power dynamics, and questions about effectiveness have made it harder for these organizations to respond to global needs. This session explores how multilateral institutions are evolving, and what role the United States should play in their future.
Our speaker for this program is Tanisa Fazel. Tanisa is the Arleen C. Carlson Professor of Political Science at the University of Minnesota. Her scholarship focuses on sovereignty, international law, armed conflict, and the global politics of climate change. Her work has also appeared in numerous scholarly journals and she is a frequent commentator on international security issues in the media. Fazal has held fellowships at Harvard, Stanford, and the Carnegie Council on International Ethics. From 2021-2023, she was an Andrew Carnegie Fellow.
Registration for each session is required for Great Decisions members. Please register on the MCC website. Sorry, not open to guests.
