About this event
We acknowledge and treasure Minneapolis’s diverse population. How do we also treasure and manage our personal diverse backgrounds? Our multiple heritages impact what we eat, how we talk, raise our children, celebrate holidays and see the world.
Join us as Maryam Marne Zafar, a Native American with a rich, mixed background, speaks from her Native perspective about the beauty and challenges of being a “multi-culti” (her term). She will then generalize her experience to a broader population. She believes that “Yes, we all should and must acknowledge all that makes us who we are.”
Ms. Zafar has 40 years of experience working as a “visual strategist” developing identities and communication approaches for businesses and non-profit organizations. She is also a writer, photographer and fine artist.
An optional 30 minute discussion will follow the program to provide MCC members an opportunity to share the impact on their own lives of their own multi-heritages.
Interested in carpooling? Click on the registrant list and find a member in your building or near you that you can connect with and ask to share a ride. Or, feel free to contact the MCC office for a suggestion.
