About this event
Please join us as we hear from Richard Painter, University of Minnesota Law School Professor of Corporate Law. He will discuss The Unitary Executive, Presidential Immunity and the Future of Representative Democracy, which will include the power of the president to control the executive branch, including firing senior officers, the president's immunity from criminal prosecution and whether our republic can withstand the threat of abuse of presidential power.
Professor Painter has been a professor of Corporate Law at the University of Minnesota since 2007. He previously served as associate counsel to the president in the White House Counsel’s office from 2005-2007, serving as the chief ethics lawyer for the president. Mr. Painter has written op-eds on government ethics for various news publications, including The New York Times, Washington Post and Los Angeles Times, and he has been interviewed several times on government ethics and corporate ethics by national news organizations.
